How I Got Here

As a little kid growing up in South Seattle, I never dreamed of becoming a filmmaker or film professor for one of the most famous film schools in the world, but I'd make up fantasy stories in my head while playing with my Legos or Barbie dolls. I'd play sports games, with each side gaining victories and losses since I was the master of both clans. I didn't know it, but I'd been crafting stories all my life starting with short stories in grade school, graduating to journalism, before branching out to writing and Producing fictional comedies and dramas for television and film. Understanding story, people, logistics, money, and physical production gives me an advantage as a conflict solutions Producer/Line Producer who can anticipate obstacles while effectively helping stakeholders bring the project in on time and on budget within their creative vision.

I look at the world through a creative artist's lens. I see stories everywhere life exists--from nature to history to the fantastical--each waiting to be told. I put my imagination to use crafting words to describe the unseen; I take readers and audiences into a world engaging and unexpected. My biggest joy isn't Writing for TV series or feature films with big stars, but passing on what I've learned over the years in Hollywood to underrepresented storytellers who like me, have had little to no access to professional filmmakers to help them skillfully tell the stories they have inside.
